Hisashi Kagawa was born in Nagoya,Japan in 1971. After graduating from Hokkaido University with a Bsc in Biochemistry he entered a career in television working first as a Cameraman and later as a Newswriter and Technical Director. Stifled by the lack of creative freedom he left to study photography, a long time passion, in Florence,Italy. Inspired by his teacher,an American freelance photographer,he embarked on the study of alternative processes. He mastered bromoil in particular and now exhibits widely within Japan and Europe.

He is in demand as an educator; often being asked to conduct workshops which he does when time permits.

He has recently been commisioned by Toyota in Japan and has had his work published in magazines in Italy, the UK and Japan.

He is a member of the Printers Association of Japan.
